The idea of the project is to do some internet search on a topic to later integrate voice, text and images using the web-tools and applications you know and/or new ones plus the contents you learned in this class with the purpose of presenting the work of an architect or the characteristics of a city or a public space.
Description:
In pairs or individually, you will do some internet search to find out about a city or a public space within a city such as a library, a mall, a university, a square, a theater or a museum to later present your findings to the rest of the class. It is important to notice and describe how the concepts of Horizontal Circulation, Vertical Circulation, Rhythm, Acoustics, Color, Light & Texture have been used in the city or public space of your choice. It might be a good idea to include some astonishing facts about that city or public space.
Tips:
You can include a brief historical background of the place.
You can provide information about specific characteristics of the place.
You can describe the urban context, geographical location.
You can add information about the planners of the city or public space.
You can give information about the shape of the plan, or important monuments found there.
You can describe the horizontal and vertical circulation of people and vehicles in the area.
You can describe the activities people can do in that place and the dynamics of the area; or perhaps the articulation of your space and other spaces within the same city.
You can say how the use of light influences the illumination of the area (ex: Av. Francisco de Miranda in Chacao)
You can tell how texture has been used in the surface of building skins or how elements with texture or color transmit different sensations to the passers by.
You can include city maps, plans and blue prints.
PROCEDURE: Part I / Content:
1. Find out about the life and work of the architect you chose or about the city or public place you selected.
2. Look for images, pictures, photographs, sketches, drawings, drafts, maps, blueprints, etc to illustrate your work.
3. Describe how the architectural elements and effects we studied in ID2-126 have been used by your architect or in your city/public space.
Part II / Media:
1. You can design photoblogs, blogs, wikies, power point slides, take photos, make videos, do screenshots, etc, etc, etc to present your project.
2. Add text to your images
3. Record your voice to introduce the information in the video, slide, PPT, wiki, blog, etc….
Tips for the Presentation of your work
You can present your work in the form of a video if you have a camcorder, edit it using Windows Movie Maker and upload it to Youtube.
You can present your work in the form of a video by using your photographs, screenshots or PPT slides using Windows Movie Maker and upload it to Youtube.
You can present your work in the form of a wiki using PB wiki or Wikispaces.
You can present your work in Splashcast in the form of a Photoblog.
You can present your Final project in the form of a blog just like we did with the Collaborative Blog in Motime.
You can use Photostory to present your project in the form of a photoblog.
Criteria for the Evaluation and Grading of your Projects:
§ The Content of your Project is a plus!
§ Organization, creativity and originality will be highly considered.
§ The use of different resources and web-tools is really important.
§ The use of Vocabulary, Grammar, Pronunciation, and Fluency counts.
§ Neatness and Clarity will also be considered.
§ Your Effort will be definitely taken into account!!!
